Manchester is gaining more and more attention for its various tourist attractions and that attention is certainly well deserved.  The city offers an amazing combination of activities and sites that are sure to please people with almost any collection of interests.

Those who love history will adore Manchester.  Tourism based on the area’s history always attracts a crowd.  The city has been in operation for centuries and it simply drips history at every turn.  Travelers can experience some of the world’s finest pieces of Tudor architecture, breathtaking old cathedrals and other living examples of the city’s past.  That’s only the beginning, though.  Manchester hosts a series of amazing national museums that details the area’s rich history.  Of particular note is The People’s Museum, the only British museum focusing entirely upon the contribution of working people to world’s great achievements.

Art lovers will also find Manchester welcoming.  The Manchester Art Gallery is one of many wonderful installations offering eye-popping paintings, sculptures and design work from the era of the ancient Greeks to 20th century British artwork.  In addition to museum settings, there are many wonderful galleries and exhibitions featuring the work of talented local artists.

When the sun goes down, Manchester comes to life.  The city plays host to a vibrant gay nightlife, as popularized on the television hit Queer as Folks.  That Canal Street scene is only part of what the city offers, though.  Manchester is globally recognized as a hub for today’s hottest music and is home to many musical venues–large and small–that attract crowds of party-minded music fans.  The eclectic music scene is a popular element of Manchester tourism.

Enjoying all of Manchester’s excitement requires plenty of fuel and you can fill your personal tank at any one of many great eateries dotting the city.  When you first think of great cities in which to eat, you may not instantly consider Manchester.  Tourism has created a great market for fine dining, however.  Whether you have a hankering for the Italian seafood of San Carlo, want to experience the joys of boiled Yucca at Cuba Libre, or would prefer to enjoy more traditional British fare at one of many top-notch restaurants, Manchester will satisfy your appetite.  If you’re rushing from one attraction to the next, feel free to stop at a local chippy for fish, chips and mushy peas–the most popular of British takeaway meals.

Manchester is a unique city.  It’s a working class town with history.  It’s a university city with cosmopolitan flair.  Manchester tourism offers something for everyone and should be on everyone’s list of places to experience.  Go to Manchester.  See the old cathedrals, check out the newest bands, enjoy culinary delights and fill your belly with some of the greatest food in Europe.
